I just got turned on to Ingrid Michaelson and her new single, “Be OK”. I like Ingrid’s simple style…and she’s playing an UKULELE!! :0) Makes me nostalgic for my sweet Kauai…
Not only is the song great, as a bonus Ingrid chose Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) as her charity of choice for proceeds from this song and the same titled CD. Go Ingrid! Way to make a difference…and give us the opportunity to do the same. :0)
Ingrid asked her fans to send her photos of themselves with “Be OK” painted on their faces. The response was so overwhelming that she decided to make a video montage with all the pictures. This video is so new…exclusively at Border’s at the moment that I couldn’t post it here today. …watch for it…
Here’s the news story around the song…hot off the press!
Renowned indie-folk sensation Ingrid Michaelson announced today the release of her new album, Be OK, as part of AmieStreet.com’s ongoing ”Download To Make A Difference” campaign.
Ms. Michaelson, whose music rose to prominence on television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, has made her new album available for just $5 to benefit Stand Up To Cancer, a new initiative to raise philanthropic dollars for accelerating ground-breaking research.
“Stand Up To Cancer is bringing together the best and the brightest minds in cancer research, and I’m thrilled to be able to help support their mission through Amie Street’s Download To Make A Difference campaign,” said Ingrid Michaelson.
Starting today, fans can go to http://amiestreet.com/artist/ingrid-michaelson to download the album at the discounted $5 price, with Amie Street.com making a matching donation for each album purchased to support Stand Up To Cancer.
Stand Up To Cancer is founded on the belief that now, more than ever, there is sufficient knowledge of the basic science of cancer, and that the technologies are finally available to translate this knowledge into real advances in treatment and prevention. Today’s cancer scientists are on the verge of life-saving discoveries. But what they desperately need are the funds required to mount an all-out assault. Stand Up To Cancer is dedicated to providing this much-needed new source of cancer research funding.
Ms. Michaelson is the latest artist to release an album as part of Download to Make A Difference. Earlier this year, indie group The Walkmen raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center through paid downloads of their album on AmieStreet.com.
