I often feel energetic shifts afoot.  I can describe them…how they are inter-playing in my life’s experience and how I’m observing them in others.  I see them and feel them as energy and the reflection of the energy in emotions, actions and communications.

I love it when I see or read another’s context for the energy I’m observing.  That’s what happens frequently with my dear friend, Kay Snow-Davis.  She’s a Soul Purpose Astrologer (and many other amazing things!).  When I read her most recent post it was like light bulbs were lighting up one after the other.

It’s timely information that I feel will offer support to all of you…so here it is!  Please welcome, Kay Snow-Davis…

Everything must change…nothing stays the same…

Have you heard these words before?  They are words to a song and if these words are not familiar to you, it doesn’t matter, you can just look at life and know this is the theme right now…Nothing stays the same.

CHANGE is life and it is happening everywhere, in ways we never imagined.

From an astrological view, let’s check in with our old buddy Saturn and see what’s happening.

Saturn is truly our buddy – our stabilizer for structures and systems, inside our body and our environment.

Since September 7, 2007, Saturn entered the Element of Earth through the sign of Virgo, whose planetary “ruler” is Mercury.

What does all of this mean?

• The Element of Earth is the foundation for Life…represented by our Home planet Earth.
• Virgo is the energy of health, healing, service, animals and the details of daily life – our physical world/body and daily order.
• Mercury is the “messenger of the Gods” – the bridge between the Universe and the frontal lobe of our brain that is dependent on memory and understanding.

When Mercury goes retrograde, we get all frustrated because communication seems disrupted, appointment fall through, we can’t remember details etc. That is because retrograde Mercury is bridging with our intuition and the frontal lobe of our brain and ordinary thinking seems to be on pause.

So for 2 years, collectively we have been experiencing some or all of the above in different ways in our lives.

On October 29,2009…something will change.

Saturn leaves the Earth sign of Virgo and enters the Air sign of Libra. This will not be happening again for 30 years.

Remember, Saturn is about systems and structures and stabilizes our foundation for renewal…this means consciousness, intentions, focus, belief systems, choices, behavior and action as well.

We needed to make new choices and create new structures to be prepared for Saturn to enter Libra and receive Venus for the next 3 years.

For 2 years, this energy has been focused in our cognitive minds where we have been making so many decisions based on so many changes that feel like a tsunami of consciousness in our daily lives.

Does this mean we can actually “get out of our heads” for a while and “into our hearts”?

Yes! As a matter of fact, from October 30, 2009 to October 6, 2012, Saturn will be in Libra, the first time in 30 years.

By Element alone, this change makes a difference. All Elements – Fire, Earth and Water are dependent on Air; thus all life on earth in in relationship to Air.

• Without Air/breath there is no life: More Air, means more Life.

• Libra is devoted to beauty, order, balance, harmony and justice in relating – on every level of life.  This is the energy of the true Peace Keeper.

• Venus (Libra’s planetary ruler) represents the arts, beauty, creativity, love and compassion.

Mercury is about choices, decisions and action. (Masculine principle)

Venus is about receiving – intuition, love, and creativity. (Feminine Principle)

As a collective, we have the opportunity to consciously create balance inside and out between our masculine/feminine principle. This balance is essential if we are to survive because it is a basic foundation of sustainable living.  It is about being able to breathe in and breathe out…the balance for all life.

So ask yourself:

• How prepared am I to allow life to become more gracious? Less stressful?
• Am I open to receive more love in my life? More creativity? More possibility and potential?
• Do I really want to live peacefully? With myself? My partner? My Children? My family? My community? My nation? My Global Family?
• Am I willing to release the conflict between my head and heart?
• Will I allow my health and happiness to be renewed through forgiveness and compassion?
• Can I compliment rather than criticize and complain about others and myself?
• Do I believe in loving and being loved?

And the list will continue, as we receive more breath and become more alive in all areas of our life.

Life is very different now than 30 years ago when Saturn was in Libra.  You and I and our daily thoughts, choices and action will determine the sustainability of the next 30 years for our children and ourselves.

Organic Mixed Green Salad with Toasted Pecan Vinaigrette

Pecan Vinaigrette

20 minutes / 3 ½ cups
1 C Water
1 C Pecans, toasted
½ C Safflower or sunflower oil
1 Tbl Maple syrup or agave nectar
5 tsp Apple cider vinegar, raw
1 Tbl Soy sauce, or to taste
¼ tsp Garlic, minced (optional)

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Serve with a large organic mixed green salad with all of your favorite veggies such as tomato, cucumber, grated carrots, red onion slices, olives and more.

Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms

25 min prep / 20 min cooking / 12 – 15 mushrooms
12-15 Stuffing mushrooms

1 recipe Lemon Herb Marinade (see below)
1 Tbl Olive oil
¼ C Shallots or onion, minced
½ C Cremini mushrooms, diced
1 large bunch Spinach, steamed & drained to yield ½ C
¼ C Tomato, chopped
1 tsp Basil, minced
1 tsp Italian parsley, minced
1 Tbl Nutritional yeast(optional)
¾ tsp soy sauce (optional)
½ tsp Mirin (optional)
½ tsp Garlic, minced
Pinch Crushed red pepper flakes
• Sea salt, to taste
• Black pepper, ground to taste
3 Tbl Bread crumbs for garnish
3 Tbl Pine nuts, toasted for garnish

1. Preheat oven to 375°. Wipe clean stuffing mushrooms, remove any stems and place in a shallow baking dish with Lemon Herb Marinade for 20 minutes or longer.
2. While mushrooms are marinating, place oil in a small sauté pan on medium high heat. Add shallots and cremini mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add tomatoes and spinach and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add remaining ingredients, except pine nuts and bread crumbs, mix well and remove from heat.
3. Spoon a small amount of mixture into each mushroom, top with breadcrumbs and pine nuts, bake until mushrooms are slightly soft, approximately 10 minutes. Be careful not to overcook.

Lemon Herb Marinade

1 C water
2 Tbl freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 Tbl soy sauce
1 Tbl minced Italian parsley

Combine all ingredients in a shallow dish and whisk well.

If you’re a fan of pecan pie, this recipe is bound to satisfy as it bears a striking similarity to the flavor you love without all the refined ingredients.

Yield: 1 (8-in.) pie

Prep Time: 20 minutes

3 1/2 cups pecans

3 1/2 cups pitted dates

1/2 cup raisins, soaked

2 cups filtered water

1/4 cup date/raisin soak water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup agave nectar

1. Place 3 cups pecans and 1 1/2 cups dates in a food processor fitted with an S-shaped blade. Blend on high speed for 30 to 40 seconds or until mixture sticks together and runs up the sides without falling into the center. You may need to add more dates.

2. Press crust into a pie pan, making a layer around the bottom and sides at least 1/4-inch thick. (No need to oil the pan.)

3. Place 1 cup dates and raisins in a small bowl with filtered water. Allow to soak for at least 20 minutes.

4. Place remaining 1 cup dates, soaked dates, raisins, 1/4 cup soak water, vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and agave nectar in a blender and blend on high speed until a thick, relatively smooth mixture forms.

5. Pour mixture into the piecrust and layer the top with remaining 1/2 cup pecans. Wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. You want pie chilled so it keeps its form when sliced.

BBQ Tempeh Kebabs

For the BBQ Sauce:
1/4 cup barley malt syrup
1/4 cup ketchup
2 Tbsp. safflower oil
2 tsp. raw apple cider vinegar
2 tsp. vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. stone-ground mustard
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. liquid smoke
Pinch of cayenne pepper, or to taste

• Combine all the ingredients in a medium-size bowl and whisk well.

To Assemble:
6-8 kebab skewers
8 oz. tempeh, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
1 medium bell pepper, 1 inch dice
1/2 medium red onion, quartered
6-8 medium cherry tomatoes
1 large portobello mushroom, 1 inch cubes

• Place the tempeh and vegetables in the BBQ Sauce bowl, mix well, and allow to marinate for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
• Decoratively arrange the tempeh and vegetables on the skewers, finishing each with a cherry tomato. Grill until char marks appear and the tempeh and vegetables are cooked through, approximately 15 minutes. Baste with some of the BBQ Sauce while grilling and top with the remaining BBQ sauce before serving.

Makes 6 to 8 kebabs

America is an experiment, consciously or unconsciously generated. Can we really be a united nation of global citizens?

This question has generated movement, crisis, change, transformation, slavery, human rights issues, indigenous massacre, continental expansion, conscious evolution and immense questions.

Primarily, the question remains the same to this day; can we really be a united nation of global citizens? Now add the next factor, and can we create sustainable living, in this nation and on this home planet.

There is no force as great as an idea whose time has come.

Teilhard de Chardin,

The time has come for the next era/destiny of America to be demonstrated on this planet.

What might that look like? How will that manifest in America? In the world?

Let’s explore this together through the window of Soul Purpose Astrology.

First, let’s look at the cycles of Pluto, the planet and energy that works with the collective unconscious.

What does that mean? The movement of this energy is so slow that it is almost immeasurable until years later. We have to “look back” and see the wake of this penetration into the field of human consciousness; like the wake of the boat breaking the water in its forward movement.

The influence of this planet is so deep and subtle that the conscious minds, of most humans, other than our young children, do not associate with this movement. Yet the movement of Pluto on the unconscious field is like the deep currents of the ocean, always moving, discernable or not.

Let’s take a look at Pluto, starting from 1912 – 1938, when it was in the sign of Cancer. This is a WATER sign, ruled by the Moon. Water is the primary conductor of vibration/energy through thought, emotion and movement in any form. The ocean is always moving, in relationship to the Moon, subtle, powerful and variable.

During these years, when Pluto was in the sign of Cancer, most of the emotions of that generation were hidden/suppressed and held in place by guilt, shame, judgment and blame.

Now the Universal law on this planet is movement and change. What gets suppressed will get expressed, somewhere, some how.

Notice from 1912 – 1938, World War I started, the Great Depression came into expression and the seeds of World War II were planted. The whole world was influenced by the suppression/expression of emotions; generations paid the price, and still are emotionally, for that unnatural minimization and limitation.

From 1938 – 1958, Pluto moved into the FIRE sign of Leo, ruled by the Sun. All life seeks the LIGHT- the light of the Sun in our solar system. This was the era for expression: resist suppression, gain independent expression, “break free from the rules of society”, challenge the war, turn the women loose, – from their bras and the corporate glass ceiling, follow your passion……

Balance is the key in life. Pluto in Cancer was the breath IN….held and suppressed. Pluto in Leo became the breath OUT….no limits – with great passion for freedom of expression. Now that Pluto in Cancer and Pluto in Leo have been released from suppression through powerful expression – and a full breath in life is possible, balanced living is a potential, consciously unknown to humanity, and NOW is the time.

The next generation, born from 1958 – 1970, with Pluto in Virgo, is an EARTH sign ruled by Mercury, the messenger of the Gods.

Mercury has the ability to listen through the heart and receive the messages from the Universe and consciously actualize them as ideas and co-creation in daily life. This power is extremely accentuated during Mercury in retrograde. Does that answer your question why your mind can’t make all of the decision without some heart/emotional consideration during Mercury in retrograde?

Pluto in Virgo is a generation committed to use the potential for balance and create new structures and systems through compassion, cooperation and co-creation. This generation is committed to sustainable global living. They are born with an innate sense of cooperation and the need to apply that in relationship with all life.

Their visions and desires are centered on practical application of new systems and structures that will generate and promote sustainable global living on a local and international basis.

It will be about 246 years before Pluto returns to the same cycle in any sign it has been in. It takes that many years to complete a journey around the Zodiac. We have been witness to, or lived through some rare moments, since 1912, and are entering a new era of life on EARTH.

It is time to pass the torch of acquired wisdom from the Pluto in Cancer and Pluto in Leo generation, whether that is “what to do or what not to do” for the future generations. The majority of national leaders internationally are male and Pluto in Leo or a few Pluto in Cancer.

That torch must be pasted to the Pluto in Virgo generation to generate the new systems and structures necessary to facilitate sustainable global living. Our life, as a species, depends on these changes.

So we are back to our original question: Can we really be a united nation of global citizens?

Not only do I believe we can, I believe we must. As a “united nation” of global citizens emigrated from every nation in the world, if we cannot pull this off in this country called America, where else is this principle going to be practiced?

This is a BIG experiment and we are at a critical point of choice. Living together as a global family, sharing our HOME planet is a reality, not an option, unless you know of another planet that you intend to migrate to.

Have we grown up enough as a nation to recognize and fulfill our destiny/opportunity to practice sustainable global living, right here at home? To practice unifying our lives, instead of fighting for separation and exclusivity based on a myriad of illusions and delusions. To create new systems and structures that will promote and support sustainable global living.

Pluto just entered Capricorn in January 26 of 2008 and will be in that EARTH sign until 2024. Now WHAT???? Saturn, the stabilizer for our human experience, rules this EARTH sign. Saturn sustains us energetically in our Soul commitments and agreements, personally and collectively.

What are our Soul level commitments and agreements as a global family living on this HOME planet?

Very simple – live in harmony with all our relations on the only HOME we have, planet Earth.

Humans are the ONLY species living in disharmony on this HOME planet. We are guests on this beautiful, abundant EARTH. We are NOT part of the food chain, and our ONLY contribution to life on this planet is consciousness when aligned with the resonance of all life on this EARTH.

It appears with Pluto in Capricorn until 2024, we get 16 years to practice, Waking Up and Aligning with the planet that provides our breath, food and water.

Will you say YES, I CAN make a difference? Will you say YES to our children? Will you say YES to our HOME Planet and strive to consciously live and grow a sustainable global life style, locally and internationally that honors all life?

OUR FUTURE AND OUR LIFE DEPENDS ON SAYING YES TO ALL LIFE

Deann has two beautiful young girls, 5 and 2.  They’ve been learning all about elections, presidents, governments and character with Deann over the last several months of this election.

My sister shared a great story last night that I wanted to share with all of you…the greater soul wisdom of our children tickles me and astounds me every time!

The night before the election my sister had her girls start chanting, “Barack Obama, Barack Obama” over and over again.  She said it was the cutest, most moving site seeing her two little ones dancing and chanting the name of our now President Elect.

Yesterday when Deann picked Anya up from kindergarten Anya was wearing an “I Voted” sticker.  Deann noticed and said, “cool honey, you voted!  Who did you vote for?”  Anya shouted while smiling, “Barack Obama!” with as much enthusiasm as she held in her chanting the night before.

Later in the evening as they were watching history being made, as the polls were closing and the tallies were rolling in Anya watched along side her mom with pride and glee.

It was time for bed before the final results were in.  Deann tucked her sweet, happy 5 year old into bed.  Several minutes had passed and Deann heard sobbing coming from Anya’s bedroom.  She went to see why Anya was crying.  When Deann went in Anya sat up and said, “Oh Momma…I’m just so sad!”.  Deann asked, “Why honey, everything’s OK.”  Anya said, “No Momma, everything’s not OK.  I feel sad for John McCain.  Why does there have to be a loser?  I don’t want anyone to have to lose?  I hope John McCain will be OK, Momma.  Do you think he’ll be OK?”

Wow!  The wisdom and compassion in my niece’s heart just moves me to tears.  SHE is our future.  Our children are our future.  They “get it” above and beyond where most of us ever will.

Today, I am grateful that the change we need is here.  I’m confident in knowing that YES, WE can.  I’m excited and fully enrolled in the new potential that lies before us.  And most of all, I am humbled in the presence of my wise 5 year old niece who exudes Love and Compassion beyond measure.  THIS is the answer.  This will deliver us to the “promised land” we’re all creating.

With Love and Compassion Flowing Abundantly I Celebrate Life and the Hearts of ALL.

Everything is energy and encoded information and from an astrological viewpoint, there is a phenomena going on in America.

When we are born each one of us has an encoded Soul Purpose for coming to this Earth. We also have a generational commitment; each generation has a special encoded contribution for the evolution of human kind.

Pluto, Neptune and Uranus, the outer planets that influence the collective unconscious, and thus our evolutionary patterns, primarily determine the Generational Cycles; this influence is not consciously recognized by the frontal lobe of our brain or what we commonly refer to as our conscious mind.

For our exploration let’s look at the Pluto influence and start with the Pluto in Cancer Generation.

Each year in July the Jonathan Goldman Healing Sounds Intensive takes place in Colorado. One of the highlights of this 9 day Intensive is the DAY OF TONING, a wonderful and profoundly transformational time for planetary healing. As the name implies, it is a day in which the Intensive partipants tone together for planetary peace.

The Day of Toning is a time when those of us at the Healing Sounds Intensive find ourselves in a physical sound temple complete with sacred geometry and ritual. This year, as part of a Global Healings Sounds Experiment, we will have the sounds from the “AH Toning Chamber” of the Temple of Sacred Sound playing gently in the room. Our voices at the Intensive will interface with this energy and it will be glorious.

Peter Russell has been at the forefront of sharing the idea that the earth is one large, interconnected, living system. The Gaia Hypothesis shares the vision of earth as a super micro organism.

We were fortunate to hear Peter Russell speak at the Gaia Film Festival last night. It was a thought and heart provoking evening, connecting us all and bringing us together in community. Peter shared a message of awakening and awareness to our own inner understanding and a message of waking up to our inter connectedness and the connection we all share with the planet we live on. I left the evening inspired by the beautiful opportunity we have to participate in the growing consciousness and community movements, living more from our hearts and less from our heads. What it all comes down to is conscious alignment with ourselves and our greater world.

Listening is the best medicine against violence

Tijn Touber | April 2003 issueHow can we save the world from growing intolerance, how can we stop the spiral of violence? ‘Silence is often the best answer,’ says the Dalai Lama. More and more experts are admitting he is right. This is not the time for analyses, reports and threats. We now need to stop and take the time to really listen to one another. Of course, listening is not always easy, but a growing number of initiatives are aiming to help people master this difficult art. The International Listening Association declared March to be International Awareness Month. As part of their campaign they gave tips on how to listen. ‘Count to three when the person you are speaking with has finished talking. That person will often take this to be a signal to go on talking. You will be surprised at how much extra information you get. If you are interrupted, do not get irritated, do not attack and do not lecture, but simply say: “Please listen for a moment, I am not finished yet.”‘

One of the most experienced experts in the field of listening and speaking is Margaret Wheatley. In her book Turning to One Another (Berret-Koehler Publishers, 2002) she claims that people have become more and more isolated from each other – each of us seems to be alone in the world: ‘We no longer seek consolation from one another, but in material goods. The whole world is heading with lightning speed, as if hypnotised, in the wrong direction, away from each other, towards more belongings. We promise ourselves all kinds of things, except each other. We have forgotten the true source of peace and contentment.’ Wheatley sees only one remedy: listening to each other’s stories, needs, fears and dreams, even to those we have come to call ‘the enemy’. And not just at the negotiation table, but also at the kitchen table or leaning against a fencepost.

Because it is not always easy to find the right words, Nancy Guilmartin wrote Healing Conversations (Jossey-Bass, 2002). Its focus: what to say when you do not know what to say. For example, what do you say to a colleague who learns he has cancer, to a child whose pet is dying, to a friend whose support you need, to your best friend who is getting a divorce, or to the relatives of the deceased at a funeral? In many cases Guilmartin reaches the conclusion that listening and ‘being there’ are more important than finding solutions and pronouncing well-phrased sentences. She warns: ‘Conversations that are meant to heal are messy by definition – the disease will come to the surface.’ Guilmartin also warns the reader not to expect any quick, simple solutions. Healing takes time. ‘Only if you take time for each other will you finally feel safe enough to let your hair down. You have to feel safe enough to be emotional or irrational one day, and to know you still have a friend the next. It takes courage to show your despair, numbness, apathy, anger or confusion. Friends listen, unconditionally.’

(CNN) — Edgar S. Cahn is fighting for your right to be lazy.

The slow movement backs random acts of slowness, such as turning off the BlackBerry or spending time with friends.

Other activists might devote their time to reversing global warming or saving the whales. But the 73-year-old attorney is battling to preserve a commodity that he says is more fragile than the environment and more precious than oil — time.

Cahn is a leader in the “slow movement,” a national campaign that claims that speed kills. Its leaders say that Americans are so starved for time, our need for speed is destroying our health, families and communities.

They say we live in a culture in which being overworked has become a status symbol. Cahn created TimeBanks USA, a nonprofit group that treats time as money, to put the brakes on people’s high-velocity lifestyles.

TimeBanks members barter blocks of time known as “time dollars.” One member may, for example, buy groceries for a stranger in exchange for someone else walking their dog.

“Time is the most precious thing we have,” he says. “Every hour you live, you never get back.”
