I love the dual energies I feel at this time of year.

It’s a time of harvest.  A time of recognizing and giving gratitude for the abundance gathered over months of inspired growing time.
And it’s a time of winding down as we allow ourselves into the womb of winter.
A time of preparing to go inside until the light is renewed and another cycle of rebirth is upon us.

Nature truly gives us all the wisdom we could hope for.  She knows without question what to do next.  She is the perfect example of allowance.  She just flows.  If something outside of her realm of influence attempts to disrupt her…she shakes it off…she self corrects.

Through nature we find ourselves.  We are nature in human form.  The same vibration that created her is that of us.  We are energy.  Alive.  Pulsing.  Enlivened by the very pulse of the planet.

Nature’s Gateway

In my world, Nature is one of the most magical gateways to our Brilliance.

If ever we feel unsure, shaken, unaware, out of touch with who we are in our purest form…Nature is the Gateway to finding our way home…to our Brilliance, to all that we are.

Most of us have created lives that lead us away from nature.  We create boxes; we exist indoors.  We have multi-level buildings that give rise to our feet from the grounded connection they so love to feel on the earth.  We turn on another box to watch nature…through the lens of another.  Our lives are busy.  We don’t have time to play outside.

My life got as much like that as I’d ever let it.  And then we moved to Kauai where even when you’re indoors you feel the harmony and oneness of nature breathing through the space.  I am forever in appreciation for our blessed union with Kauai.

She gifted us with the Gateway home.

Once we understand the significance of Nature in our lives; once we’ve crossed the threshold of that gateway…we are FREE.

Have you found your Gateway?  There are many…and they’re free, and available to everyone…no matter where you are on the planet!

A Good Sit Spot

On Kauai, we’d often encourage the children in our homeschool community to give themselves a quiet sit spot in nature.  We’d ask them to just be with it…to quietly watch and observe…and later we’d talk about their findings.  Kids are close to nature, so this is easy for them and they always had magical things to report.

As I sit today…with the tree spirits just outside my door…I am aware of these things:

• I am nurtured by the grace of nature.  She fills me up.
• I sit, observe, feel, smell, listen, taste…  I drink her in.
• I recognize the simple beauty…and the intricate details.
• Breathing, nourishing, nurturing…
• Constant BEingness, in complete grace and ease.

The tree doesn’t ask, “What should I do today?”  He just stands in his knowing.  He doesn’t wonder who he is.  He’s good at being a tree.  He accepts himself for who he is.    He doesn’t bend over some days and say, “nope, not today…I’m just not going to show up today…can’t do it.”  He stands in his Brilliance, in his Power and he is Tree.

• I see movement, flexibility~
• …bending, swaying, dancing…and yet rooted, solid, grounded.

Trust the Cycles

I trust the cycles~
…Birth…Death…Rebirth

Tree doesn’t say, “no, no, no…I’m not ready!!  I can’t be time.  How is it possible?  I’m just not ready.  I don’t want it to be fall.  Please!!  I don’t want to lose my leaves!!

Instead, she accepts and allows.  She is in the flow of perfection.  She just is.  She is nature and nature is her.  Her leaves fall…naturally, gracefully…feeding and nourishing her roots for further growth.

In this moment, I am the tree.
I give myself to the cycle that is upon me with full abandon.
I am the tree.  I stand strong in who I am.
I stand strong in my connection with the earth.
My roots dig deep.  My branches reach out to the heavens.
My leaves, one by one gently float to the earth in rhythm with the earth’s calling.
My heart knows I am one with the All, all with the One.
I am in perfect harmony.

In this moment, I am Free.
This moment is every moment.
In every moment I am Free.

In love, gratitude and appreciation for the Tree…the Tree that is me…I AM FREE.

I often feel energetic shifts afoot.  I can describe them…how they are inter-playing in my life’s experience and how I’m observing them in others.  I see them and feel them as energy and the reflection of the energy in emotions, actions and communications.

I love it when I see or read another’s context for the energy I’m observing.  That’s what happens frequently with my dear friend, Kay Snow-Davis.  She’s a Soul Purpose Astrologer (and many other amazing things!).  When I read her most recent post it was like light bulbs were lighting up one after the other.

It’s timely information that I feel will offer support to all of you…so here it is!  Please welcome, Kay Snow-Davis…

Everything must change…nothing stays the same…

Have you heard these words before?  They are words to a song and if these words are not familiar to you, it doesn’t matter, you can just look at life and know this is the theme right now…Nothing stays the same.

CHANGE is life and it is happening everywhere, in ways we never imagined.

From an astrological view, let’s check in with our old buddy Saturn and see what’s happening.

Saturn is truly our buddy – our stabilizer for structures and systems, inside our body and our environment.

Since September 7, 2007, Saturn entered the Element of Earth through the sign of Virgo, whose planetary “ruler” is Mercury.

What does all of this mean?

• The Element of Earth is the foundation for Life…represented by our Home planet Earth.
• Virgo is the energy of health, healing, service, animals and the details of daily life – our physical world/body and daily order.
• Mercury is the “messenger of the Gods” – the bridge between the Universe and the frontal lobe of our brain that is dependent on memory and understanding.

When Mercury goes retrograde, we get all frustrated because communication seems disrupted, appointment fall through, we can’t remember details etc. That is because retrograde Mercury is bridging with our intuition and the frontal lobe of our brain and ordinary thinking seems to be on pause.

So for 2 years, collectively we have been experiencing some or all of the above in different ways in our lives.

On October 29,2009…something will change.

Saturn leaves the Earth sign of Virgo and enters the Air sign of Libra. This will not be happening again for 30 years.

Remember, Saturn is about systems and structures and stabilizes our foundation for renewal…this means consciousness, intentions, focus, belief systems, choices, behavior and action as well.

We needed to make new choices and create new structures to be prepared for Saturn to enter Libra and receive Venus for the next 3 years.

For 2 years, this energy has been focused in our cognitive minds where we have been making so many decisions based on so many changes that feel like a tsunami of consciousness in our daily lives.

Does this mean we can actually “get out of our heads” for a while and “into our hearts”?

Yes! As a matter of fact, from October 30, 2009 to October 6, 2012, Saturn will be in Libra, the first time in 30 years.

By Element alone, this change makes a difference. All Elements – Fire, Earth and Water are dependent on Air; thus all life on earth in in relationship to Air.

• Without Air/breath there is no life: More Air, means more Life.

• Libra is devoted to beauty, order, balance, harmony and justice in relating – on every level of life.  This is the energy of the true Peace Keeper.

• Venus (Libra’s planetary ruler) represents the arts, beauty, creativity, love and compassion.

Mercury is about choices, decisions and action. (Masculine principle)

Venus is about receiving – intuition, love, and creativity. (Feminine Principle)

As a collective, we have the opportunity to consciously create balance inside and out between our masculine/feminine principle. This balance is essential if we are to survive because it is a basic foundation of sustainable living.  It is about being able to breathe in and breathe out…the balance for all life.

So ask yourself:

• How prepared am I to allow life to become more gracious? Less stressful?
• Am I open to receive more love in my life? More creativity? More possibility and potential?
• Do I really want to live peacefully? With myself? My partner? My Children? My family? My community? My nation? My Global Family?
• Am I willing to release the conflict between my head and heart?
• Will I allow my health and happiness to be renewed through forgiveness and compassion?
• Can I compliment rather than criticize and complain about others and myself?
• Do I believe in loving and being loved?

And the list will continue, as we receive more breath and become more alive in all areas of our life.

Life is very different now than 30 years ago when Saturn was in Libra.  You and I and our daily thoughts, choices and action will determine the sustainability of the next 30 years for our children and ourselves.

Will you choose Love?

The power of Venus is with you 24/7 for the next 3 years to practice this as a lifestyle.

We humans are very creative. Many, many centuries we have been using our imagination to create illusions.  A major one that comes to my mind is the illusion that the Earth was flat.  Someone made this up and promoted it fully with no cell phones, TV, videos or World Wide Web.  What a great PR job and the collective believed in this illusion enough to kill people with any other idea.

Now we have created this illusion called money….and people are dying daily for their belief or connection to this illusion.

We cannot eat money.  It will not provide oxygen.  It does not grow food.  It will not heal an ailing body or mind. It will not create love in relationships.  It will not “buy the life” of your child or loved one killed in a meaningless act of violence.

The pen is not the poetry; it is an instrument for the poet.  The guitar is not the song; it is the instrument for the singer.  Money is not sustainable; it has the ability to be used as an instrument for supporting sustainability on this planet.

Money is a convenience and an agreement of exchange based on a trust that the “currency” actually has value.   It is easier to carry around than a chicken or a goat.

After having gone through the immense devastation of Hurricane Iniki, September 11, 1992 on the island of Kau’ai, Hawaii, it became very clear to me what is real.  Money had no use or value in those days without electricity, no banks open, no gas stations to frequent, no grocery stores to buy food.

What became critically important was, “How is your family? Is every one safe? Do you have a home?  Can we share food or water with you?”

We live on a beneficial Home planet, called Earth, a living model of sustainability, created without any input from the human imagination.

As a guest species on this Home planet, it would seem advisable to enter the sustainable system and make a contribution, especially since we are not part of the food chain.

What is not sustainable on this Home planet will collapse in on itself and allow sustainable life to emerge.

If we look at the dissolving illusion of “the Earth was flat”, the reality was far greater and more beneficial than our imagination.  Earth in reality is this beautiful sphere in an ordered Universe, far beyond the human imagination, and yet serving our daily life.

Money is not a sustainable system and it is dissolving into chaos world wide so the next level of awareness and use of this instrument can be focused on entering into the sustainable system.  This is where the human imagination can come into full creativity…now is the hour for exquisite soul purpose living to emerge and align with all life on our Home planet.

Let’s invite and listen to the voice and the wisdom of our youth, after all it is their future they are investing in and they deserve to have a vote on what they consider sustainable living.

We are at choice here as a species, choose what sustains life for generations to come and in compliance and respect for the Home planet that 6.5 billion family members live on or continue to destroy our species and cause immense harm in the process to all our relations.

I choose sustainable living and it is my intention to live and learn every day of my life; what does this really mean and how can I make my ultimate contribution?

Firstly, I considered, is poverty a social condition…or is it possible it’s a state of being? I thought of how from certain lenses it sure seems to be a social condition. We can look at a region and ascertain that indeed that area is poverty stricken. We can then conclude that this then must be a social condition as this is the state of society as it exists in this area.

Being who I am…I began to question this theory. In my observation, from my perspective, I feel it’s possible that poverty is a state of being. I’ve traveled many places near and far…I’ve observed what we, through our lens of perspective see as poverty. I’ve also observed that when I remove that lens and step into the essence of that which surrounds me I can see the beauty and the soul of that particular place thriving in its own unique vibration. I observe children playing happily in the dirt with nothing more than a stick and I see contentment and aliveness in their eyes. I don’t see want or lack. I see peace and what is-ness. As I recognize this it’s interesting to consider that poverty perhaps is not so much a social condition, something that we perceive as “less than”…but rather a state of being that simply is.

If the media didn’t tell someone that they were impoverished, would they know it? If another area of society didn’t provide the contrast, would we see it as such? I wonder.

Wikipedia states that: “Poverty is deprivation of common necessities that determine the quality of life, including food, clothing, shelter and safe drinking water, and may also include the deprivation of opportunities to learn, to obtain better employment to escape poverty, and/or to enjoy the respect of fellow citizens.” It goes on to state, according to Mollie Orshansky who developed the poverty measurements used by the U.S. government, “to be poor is to be deprived of those goods and services and pleasures which others around us take for granted.”

I find this in and of itself intriguing and supportive of my initial query. A person actually develops the “poverty measurements” used by the U.S. government. So it would seem that this is subjective rather than objective. My point is that if we can remove ourselves from the emotional interference that perhaps we can see that the idea of poverty is sometimes steeped in our own projection.

I’m certainly not suggesting that poverty doesn’t exist, or that it’s right for one person to be graced with all things good in life and for others to have to go without. I am suggesting that I wonder how we would view all of this if it weren’t for the contrast that is so evident in our lives today.

At this point I feel it is important to balance my ponderings thus far with this: My wish for the world is that all people, if they choose, if they desire, have access to food, clothing, shelter, clean water, safety, connection, education and opportunity to become all that they wish to become. I am not a separatist. I am one with the Universe, one with all sentient beings on this planet. On an emotional level I am not free from feeling the pain in a starving child’s eyes. On that same level I feel the hurt of a nation grieving what it feels it has lost or has never had. I am human. I am connected. I feel the pulse that runs through each of our veins just the same. All of this being said, I trust. I trust in the Universal Harmony, the Universal Rhythm that flows through the All. I am willing to be active in showing up for what moves me, in showing up for what screams YES in my being. I am willing to support the world in maintaining its own ‘True North’…and I know that this is already done.

In closing, I offer another perspective of poverty. Ones inability to see and feel the Truth, the Supreme God Source in All…in oneself and ones neighbor…ones strong attachment to the material world and all that reflects, an attachment so strong that one starves oneself from the very essence that created us, the very essence of that which we are…THIS may be poverty. Perhaps poverty is as much within us as it is without.

Poverty as a state of being. Poverty as a social condition. I see both. In today’s world, the world that is projected to us on the big screen 24/7, it’s easy to get drawn into the web of polarity. In my world, I choose now more than ever to see that polarity and recognize the Light in all of it.

The contrast serves to inform, engage, inspire..to give us our point of reference, our perspective, our compass to our own ‘true north’ and from there it’s our choice what it is that we see.

1. To demand that my country join an international treaty within the next two years that cuts global warming pollution by 90 percent in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth;
